FAQ

1. DO YOU PROVIDE AIRPORT TRANSPORTATION?

We do not offer airport transportation. It is the client's responsibility to get from the airport to our lodge (maps are provided). Our clients going to our Muskeg Camp will be asked to take their rental vehicle to the lodge following the guide's trucks.

2. WHAT IS YOU HUNTER / GUIDE RATIO?

Deer we run 2 - 3 hunters / guide
Moose we run 1- 2 hunters / guide
Bear we run 2 - 3 hunters / guide

3. HOW MANY HUNTERS IN CAMP / WEEK?

Muskeg - Deer 6-7/ week
Pierceland - Deer 6-7 / week
Bear 6-8 / week

4. HOW COLD WILL IT BE?

The weather in May and June has warm days with temperatures averaging around 40 - 70 Fahrenheit ( 5 - 20 Celsius). We have a lot of daylight and there is always a chance of rain and bugs so be prepared.

September starts to get cooler. It can be windy and possibly wet. Temperatures range from 40? - 60? Fahrenheit ( 5 - 15 Celsius).

November is the time for warm clothing such as boots, mitts and outer wear. Deer hunts require warm boots and good long underwear along with outer clothing. Temperatures range anywhere from 32- -20 Fahrenheit. ( 0 to - 30 Celsius). In extreme weather we have heaters to help keep you comfortable.

5. IS THERE CELL COVERAGE?

There is full cell coverage at the Pierceland Camp. We have wifi at both camps, we can use facetime and facetime voice calling at Muskeg. 

6. DO YOU HAVE SOME FORM OF COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE GUIDE AND HUNTER?

Yes, we have radios to communicate between hunter and guide. It adds to your safety as well as a convenience factor.

7. DO YOU PROVIDE ALCOHOL?

Alcohol is allowed in camp, but it is not supplied. Please bring your own. We offer a selection of soft drinks and juices. Please note that the consumption of alcohol prior to or while in the field is prohibited.

8. WHAT KIND OF STANDS DO YOU USE?

We use ladder tree stands for bear. We use ground blinds for deer.

9. WHEN IS THE RUT?

For Whittail Deer the rut starts traditionaly the 2 nd week of November. Weather does seem to affect the rut a little more.

10. WHAT CALIBER OF GUN DO I NEED?

For deer, bear and moose a 270 with 150 grain bullets should be considered minimum.

11. WHEN I TAKE MY TROPHY WHAT HAPPENS THEN?

The guide takes care of the cape and horns. Hides are frozen for transport back home with the client. We can also ship the trophy or have the hides tanned (bear) by a taxidermist. All edible meat must be brought out of the bush to camp. Initial care of the meat is done in the field. We encourage you to take home as much meat as you would like. All other meat is distributed among the local people in the Pierceland area.

12. CAN I HUNT ANYTHING ELSE WHILE I'M THERE?

In Saskatchewan we have a limit of 1 per species (bear, deer and moose). Fishing is available when hunting our drive in Muskeg bear camp (after May 20).

You can also hunt a little white ball at the Northern Meadows Golf Course if interested.

Do not travel with Black Powder or Pyrodex; we will arrange it at the lodge.
